Maybe uncle Joe gave up gluten? Hope not, but haven’t seen many sandwiches from him lately.

Thanks to Nic for sending this in:

The Oregonian title is “Joe Biden works to rub off his regular-guy persona on Jeff Merkley during Portland visit”.

They went to Salt & Straw, a trendy ice cream shop in Portland that has funky gourmet flavors and there’s always a giant line to get in.

Updated count: 17 sandwiches, and 14 of ice cream. If not for XKCD, we’d have to think about changing our name.

Damn, Joe. Well done.

Had to come out of semi-retirement for this. It’s perfect - how could I not?

Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden contemplates his choice of pie at Wilson’s Sandwich Shop on Main Street on Sept. 17,  2008, as he visits Findlay,  Ohio to stump for presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama.

Randy’s original post is here, and you should check some of his other photos:

Current count: 17 sandwiches, plus 12 of ice cream (and we’re resisting the urge to start counting pie).

I do have a question for you. Actually two. And do please reply. You know you coerce with rather a lot of emotional, or communistic, blackmail, people into donation into your quaffers. Funds that is. You know that is wrong? Now don't you. You know that you are supposed to live in a free state and a free country and you don't. Well I find it shocking. I haven't got any money you see, and you still expect a person of my class and my character to donate? Well, let us put this thlot

Says Arnold:

Joe eating TWO ice cream cones. He decided against the ice cream sandwich after learning he could get twice as much as cream this way.

Current count: 17 sandwiches, plus 11 of ice cream.

C/D:  Sadly, we must ask about the Onion story. While shirtless, have you ever washed a 1981 Pontiac Trans Am in your driveway?

JB: [Laughing] You think I’d drive a Trans Am? I have been in my bathing suit in my driveway and not only washed my Goodwood-green 1967 Corvette but also simonized it.  At least the Onion should have had me washing a Trans Am convertible. I love convertibles.

Chips and Dip - Unconfirmed accounts suggest that Biden may have put some dip between two chips to form a chip-and-dip sandwich. (I made that up)
